Hanshi Patrick McCarthy - Brisbane, Australia
August 11, 2015
After many years of correspondence with Hanshi McCarthy we were finally able to have an online discussion with him regarding Kyusho, the Bubishi and many interrelated aspects.
This discussion is one hour and 15 minutes covering the Bubishi & Kyusho.
Along with Andi Quast, Joe Swift and Jesse Enkamp, Evan Pantazi founder of Kyusho International and Co Director of the Kyusho-Jutsu Kokusai Shihankai (With Hanshi Patrick McCarthy, will be contributing to the newest edition of the Bubishi soon to be published.
OK just finished editing this video, it was extremely difficult as it was 2 hours and needed to be shortened for you tube, it was all fantastic information as expected.

All I can say right now is wow. A wealth of information. When you start analyzing yourself, martial arts, other influences you start to realize, this is where I am at in my journey, that everyone does not peel a orange the same way, so why force them. 🙂 . I would love to meet Hanshi McCarthy.
I had the pleasure of attending a McCarthy seminar and trying out some of those two person drills. I also have the Tuttle version of the Bubishi, but wishing now that I had one from Mabuni or Motubo. He must have some archive, does he mention how large the collection is? I was also wondering if there is a correlation between that information and the Soken notes?
I admit that I have perused my copy of the Bubishi over and over again, but not for a few years now. I am interested in the part where he mentions the ways that you both continue to find new insights there. Can you throw us a small breadcrumb(besides the 6 Ji hands, I am working on those now)?
Sir,
No Hanshi McCarthy did not give a specific number in his collection, but what he showed us and talked about was intriguing and we are grateful for his honesty in presentation.
As far as the keys to the Bubishi there are 6 hands, that will open at least 6 doors, what is found in the rooms will cross correlate.
I am not trying to lead you on, my discoveries and values received will be different from yours, so no concrete answer can be given… you must work them yourself to access the greater information and then take what you need individually.
A further clue may be to look at what is presented, like the targets, the times, etc… using the keys to open them… but do not think of them exclusively either, allow your mind to find.
As example in archaeology when they find an old tablet, stone, scroll or other such written or drawn artifact, they must first decipher the language, then they can read the message… to me this is exactly what the Bubishi is; a cryptic tablet from a bygone era.
All the best in your personal archaeological adventure.
