Many people in Kyusho (especially the beginners), believe that Kyusho or "Pressure Points" rely on pain compliance. But this is not the real use case, nor the way to employ Kyusho. Many also call this target TW-17, but again they are mistaken as you cannot use the facial nerve root as an acupuncture point as it would cause pain, dysfunction and loss of consciousness.
Another difficulty aside from improper location, they also apply incorrect tools and or trajectories to make this as powerful as it can be. By using the correct target with the correct tool and trajectory, you can cause full dysfunction of the opponent with very little ballistic force or power. This makes the target viable in close range combat as well as clinch or ground fighting application.
Simply striking this target or general area can cause jaw dislocation, whiplash and even unconsciousness with enough force as the rapid twisting of the brain stem, activates the Reticular Activating System (RAS - also known as the extrathalamic control modulatory system, is a set of connected nuclei in the brains of vertebrates that is responsible for regulating wakefulness and sleep-wake transitions, and also for promoting motor control of posture).
