You are in heated conflict
and under great stress, you have only trained pressure point techniques for specific attack... what happens... all the points vanish!
This is the reality.
When you train set or static technique, you of course can learn Kyusho to a very basic level, but most probably in real conflict it will not serve you.
The reason is real conflict is not predictable, people do not attack a trained in the techniques you use in the dojo. Training must be more dynamic and free flowing for you to survive the attack. If you do not train in fast paced, highly stressful and spontaneous conditions, then you can not possibly be ready for a real altercation.
But deeper than that in fast paced stress conditions the points disappear... yes actually vanish!
How can that be you ask... well as first example take the arms... the typical Kyusho (dojo) practitioner learns to strike LI-10 on the forearm. Well if someone lunges, adopts a fighters stance or even just tightens their fist, the point disappears. How you ask, well if the person lunges that hands and arms will rotate in such a way that getting to this target will be next to impossible. If they adopt a fighter stance, the point is not available to see let alone strike... and if they tighten their fist (instinctual reflex pre fight), then the muscles become more dense with the tension and overlay to protect the nerve.
OK an arm point, "that is not the finishing point it's only a setup" I can hear it being sung now... so OK lets go to the head with a longtime favorite, ST-5. Now even though most like to say they do pressure points, they still claim ST-5 has an upper and lower access.... well that by definition makes it two points not one so even the notion of a point vanishes. But I digress, let's say the guy drops his chin as most people do when they fight... well that recessing again makes the points vanish!
So all those swell techniques where your Uke grabs your shirt, or throws the classic Karate punch and stand there waiting for the technique that you practice... or even those standing KO's give the practitioner a false hope, belief and reality. But in a real altercation this will not be the case, the arms will be in the way, the chin will be tucked, the attacker will be moving all over the place... in short that point again disappears.
So what else is going to vanish?
How about everything can and does, head points vanish in activity, arm points vanish in attack, leg and body points vanish in stances or transitional actions. but this is not all, your sight, hearing, dexterity and fluidity among so many other physical capabilities do. But you can do something about it and you can do it in proper training!
There is a specific training procedure that addresses this reality, that does not rely on static ideology or training that will enable the practitioner to access Kyusho targets... not the ones that vanish. More on this training in an upcoming Vlog.
In the meantime give it some thought, ask discuss it with your comments or questions Fright here.

This is far more important to study than self defense or technique training.
Yes it is argued by some that technique or Bunkai training is an important base, but it is actually counter productive and retards the learning process.
If a person is properly trained from the beginning the entire curriculum or progress is toward a single focus as opposed to changing that process.
This is a synergistic entity and it does not make sense to train duality or more facets. All must be toward the same purpose… And not regimented to the copy of set technique.
If the point(s) disappear then do not attack the “points” 🙂
Yes sir you are correct; as more and more people realize that Kyusho is targeting anatomical structures as opposed to “TCM – Pressure Points”, Kyusho becomes more applicable in high stress situations and adrenaline limiting capabilities.
There is always something available…however it is all in how you train, typical Kyusho Instruction cannot meet these needs, you need specialized training that we offer the true reality based individual.
In my study group , I am leaning away from the TCM. However, since we do the old curriculum (level 1-9) for testing, I have not completely expelled TCM. Question: Can we test online (video) for levels 1-9) for TI, CI, etc?
TCM is not used in the old curriculum, we never asked about it. And yes you may test online, however TI and CI levels are not tested, they are achieved in a different manner.
My apologies I meant Meridians ex, ST-5,L-10. I understand. Once we test online and meet the other requirements that is when TI and CI are achieved.
Dee the requirements for TI and CI are in the forum… under protocols. These are essential to growth of your group and skills.
Dee this will be answered in the forum as it is supposed to be.
