Wikipedia: Praxis is the process by which a theory, lesson, or skill is enacted, embodied, or realised. "Praxis" may also refer to the act of engaging, applying, exercising, realizing, or practicing ideas. This has been a recurrent topic in the field of philosophy, discussed in the writings of Plato, Aristotle, St. Augustine, Immanuel Kant, Søren Kierkegaard, Karl Marx, Martin Heidegger, Hannah Arendt, Paulo Freire, Ludwig von Mises, and many others. It has meaning in the political, educational, and spiritual realms.
In Ancient Greek the word praxis (πρᾶξις) referred to activity engaged in by free men. Aristotle held that there were three basic activities of man: theoria, poiesis and praxis. There corresponded to these kinds of activity three types of knowledge: theoretical, to which the end goal was truth; poietical, to which the end goal was production; and practical, to which the end goal was action. Aristotle further divided practical knowledge into ethics, economics and politics. He also distinguished between eupraxia (εὐπραξία, "good praxis")[2] and dyspraxia (δυσπραξία, "bad praxis, misfortune").[3]
Praxis is the integration of belief with behavior, you must change your paradigm through repetition.
The fork in the path
This is where many Kyusho Practitioners make a decision that will forever keep them from attaining their highest possible skill. With anything, most people learn to a level of comfort usually far less than what is possible, some have mental barriers or habit, (Paradigms) that will only allow them to reach lesser than possible levels... and some attain higher levels as they have adopted the paradigm of Praxis.
In this process, the practitioner actually puts the theories into action... and yes this is the only way to realize any level of success. Instead of just reading, watching, or speculating upon Kyusho in Kata, TCM theory, or in description only... the practitioner actually applies the knowledge or trajectory of the learned material.
Taking the step
Ok let me explain this a bit more in practical ideology as the strict definition is like the theory... it expands further than the practical use or need. The explanation above streamlines it so the practitioner can now see the fork in the path to decide which they will take. The issue is taking it.
There are so many self help books and seminars out there that tell you the path to success in whatever venture you choose (in our case Kyusho). You read the book or attend the course and consciously get excited and make a decision to do it or learn it or gain the goal you saw for yourself. So the individual starts the process and fails.... WHY? Because they ran into their paradigm which will keep them in it forever... Your paradigm you have created over the years through habitual repetition in a certain direction. So any time you make a new conscious decision it runs into your old paradigm that either supports you, or KO's your new plan... most people do not know this or understand it and therefore can not change their paradigm to allow the new goals and direction to become possible or successful for them.
So when you have made the conscious decision to become a skilled Kyusho practitioner or Instructor, you will need to change your paradigm. You do this by repetition and converting beliefs (changed through repetition) into actions based on that new belief and affirmation.
What this all means
You are only as successful as your paradigm allows, so first you must change this... through repetition. If you first watched a video, then you must practice it hands on. If you first attended a course you need to continue hands on, but also re-watch the videos with repetition enough to change the paradigm you currently hold.
It may not be easy, it may not be quick.... but it is the only way... for the advancing man.
Platinum Subscribers, there will be a new film for you to watch by the end of January that works this principle. For professional Kyusho Instructors this will be invaluable.
