Hypnosis-Key-300x300No Really!

First and foremost let me convey that this is NOT COMBAT EFFECTIVE, and therefore it should not be categorized as Kyusho Jutsu.   - Evan Pantazi.

It is however a highly controversial subject so please bear with me, it has without a doubt or comparison, been the most asked question in my Kyusho career and for many years my standard answer has been; "I do not want to discuss it".

The reasons for this stance was that there are so many more questions than answers and it is only a curiosity factor or misguided desire that makes people ask.

It is my firm belief (from experience not theory), that it is not a fighting skill that can protect you, it is not a reliable skill, it leads to false belief in ones skill set and is dangerous to reputation and credibility.

Let me start from the beginning. As a matter of fortune I was there at the beginning of this phenomenon and being hungry for knowledge and understanding of Kyusho, began to work at accomplishing this feat.  I began working it on a daily basis and became deeply ingrained in it's research (medical and scientific, not just in the training hall) and investigation (using it on people in over 30 countries).  This is stated to let the reader understand that this is an actual accounting and not simply speculation from watching a YouTube video or attending a seminar... and it is especially not just taking an instructors word as gospel... it is actual experience.

This is not a supportive, nor is it a hit piece as the internet seems to generate from people that have never worked at it or researched it.  Nor is it meant to be in condemnation for those that still believe it as a fighting skill or even Kyusho for that matter.  This is a simple accounting based on years of research and experience.

As a matter of fact I commend them on devoting research  time and effort to find their own truth, let's face it Einstein, Edison, Franklin, Tesla, Henry Ford (and so many others)... they were all ridiculed for believing they could develop what was not yet developed... thank god they had the persistence and perseverance.  And they followed many a false model or theory until experience and failure revealed the truth.

Admittedly seeing it performed for the first time, it appeared false and staged (and it still gives that appearance)... but really cool, magical and yielding special powers.  And after decades many still believe it the pinnacle of Kyusho Jutsu.  The common belief is that as you gain skill in striking or manipulating the pressure points (which I also no longer believe Kyusho is pressure points... see http://www.kyusho.com/no-point/), your power transfer lessens to the level of no strike or touch to enact.   This is a dangerous path to travel as it develops a false belief that can get you or others hurt as it fails in real conflict and it damages the proponents reputation and credibility.

After many years of this research it has become my opinion that it is only a dojo trick used by most to impress and  create an egocentric following.

We have studied this phenomenon (so named as what it really is has not yet been discovered or proven) since early 2000 both medically and scientifically with no conclusive result.  The longest research has been in brainwave research as we sought to reveal if it was hypnosis (as many claim) or some other manifestation.  This study has evolved over the years with the measuring equipment as well as understanding of the data vastly improving each year.  Even with deeper readings and understanding the conclusion is the same... something physiological is happening, it is stable in pattern (on those it works on and even some it does not), but unknown as why.  Again it is not reliable as a Martial Art and should not be promoted as such.

The real benefit I will mention for me was that it made me question everything in Kyusho... what is it, what is occurring (or not).   How can I make Kyusho more reliable, understandable and refine it to help people learn the true simplicity and effectiveness of this ancient body of knowledge.

Here is a list of things it revealed to be false:

  1. The TCM model of study is not related (if you can do Kyusho without TCM, then TCM is not what it is)... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/anatomy/
  2. You do not need cycles or theories.. see:  http://www.kyusho.com/multiple-point-attacks/
  3. You do not need to hit multiple or patterns of points... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/multiple-point-attacks/
  4. Kyusho is not pressure points:   http://www.kyusho.com/no-point/
  5. Kyusho and Dim Mak are not the same and neither use pressure points see:  http://www.kyusho.com/dim-mak-vs-kyusho/

Here is a list of what was revealed to be true:

  1. You can disable or dysfunction with one target (not a point) if you train correctly... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/how-to-train/
  2. You can learn faster and more reliably (with greater affect) by using simple spontaneous targeting of anatomical structures... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/target-vs-technique-2/
  3. You do not need techniques to understand Kyusho in Kata... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/kyusho-unleashed/
  4. You learnKyusho to a much higher degree with science and anatomy instead of inappropriate models... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/5th-dimension/
  5. You piss off a lot of people when you look for the truth, find it, prove it... and especially when you share it with others... see:  http://www.kyusho.com/hypocrisy/

Do not just take my word for it... find your own truth, challenge and be challenged in all you do to find that truth, for yourself.

 What is real?

Kyusho is real and it works and it has been proven in all walks of life from civilian to law enforcement to health care professionals and yes even (clover your ears folks) in intimacy.  Thousands around the world realize it as they have experienced it firsthand, it is not conjecture from a keyboard as many claim, it is from experience not theory.

Kyusho has been around for millennium (named and documented), but there are those that still refute it as they do not know it, fear it, or refuse to learn it as it is much easier to condemn it (or in case of some) they already know it.

What is also real and unfortunately a trend in the arts is learning a small bit and then professing some level of expertise... this is not exclusive to Kyusho, but it is prevalent in it and what Kyusho.com and Kyusho International are revealing.

Closing Statement:

If something is accomplished, can be also accomplished by many on many means it is real... HOWEVER, it does not mean it is applicable.

One of our Doctors that has been researching this with many other medical and scientific professionals has ruled out many past beliefs and theories and are narrowing it down in an ongoing investigation... it closely aligns with the research in quantum physics as well, we will keep you informed at Kyusho.com.

As Martial Artists we need to mature... all of society embraces science, yet Martial Artists tend to embrace myth and legend more and the main factor in why the adult market has left... we need to face reality, embrace more real science and medicine and shed the foolishness of condemnation without investigation from experience.
