From the ashes
(excerpt from the silver forum)
We all have the ability to be a great asset to our fellow man by lifting the bar in Martial Arts.
With the blending of athletics and science into the arts, the physical side of the bar is very high, look at the way these new Martial Artists move... dang! They are faster, stronger, more agile and dexterous... this is not the old Martial Arts by any means.
The Mental Side is changing, starting with the MMA (which brought us back full circle + from the original Karate circuit). You can not ignore other methods and retain relevance any longer... you must explore all possibilities from your framework, no matter what they are, even MMA.
The spiritual side or aspects has or is sliding away from the older tenants with the physical side being the goal many reach for. But even so there are small pockets of hope scattered around in this pursuit. This is not merely the warrior spirit, but the life spirit that is in focus here, the MMA has kept the fighting spirit strong (perhaps a bit too central in focus, but that is another discussion), from the older Martial ways. I say this as the competitors of the 60's and 70's were steeped in fighting spirit, which waned but is now rising again.
That said, Kyusho is itself rising again in importance and need from the obscurity it once fell or was restricted in. We are giving a new twist on an old science with physical actions from a new mental state that prove, demonstrate or enact what is professed and uncovered from history. This is a testament to it's value, worth... and transferability, the most important aspect for future generations to improve. No longer is Sensei, Sifu, Sah Bum Nim, etc. like a God that you try to emulate, they are the bar that all can surpass.
Kyusho has risen from obscurity and is now infiltrating the Martial Arts world, changing them for future generations. It was a slow emergence which now is rising to new heights of recognition and acceptance. It is imperative we forge forth in a correct manner that allows the individual to gain the experience of the past practitioners and excell forward past current possibility.
With this as the goal and mission, we now have 3 generations that are proving (and improving) this concept and skill (not all Kyusho training yields this, all but one are mired in the old ways of simple mimic of an instructor). With the proper training that frees the individual to find their own personal best and advance the art/science well beyond the instructor before them, Kyusho has and is still rising. Each of these generations learn faster, more proficiently and realistically, never afraid to shed the chains of tradition to forge new paths for those that follow in their footsteps. These great leaders are now helping the next generation, surpass them and so it goes....
If you are here searching or working toward this future in like, welcome and thank you... we can not allow Kyusho slip into obscurity again, we must preserve and better our decedents in the skill.
