Put Kyusho in your Martial Arts Curriculum
This is a recipe for disaster as we have been telling people for decades.
Not only do we help people learn Kyusho, it is our mission to help those that want to help others gain all the benefits of the Martial, Healing and Energy Development Arts.
Most of those we help are Martial Arts instructors that have already made a commitment to help people develop strength of body, mind and spirit and we give them more efficient tools for that goal. However it is typically the instructors tendency to mix their Kyusho Training into their art... but people are highly resistant and will leave the school because of this and there are many reasons.
Why?
- First most people that join a martial arts school only want exercise or a fun activity.
- They do not want contact:
- They are professionals and can not appear beaten up or bruised at work.
- They do not like pain.
- They do not want to cause pain in others.
- They have self interests on dominating their own inner fears, not another person.
- It adds more complication or brain work in their fun "Hobby"... making it a job.
- FEAR.
There are many more reasons that can be attributed to this but here is the one that is the greatest reason...it is the INSTRUCTOR that wants Kyusho in their style and this makes the instructor become self serving and not student serving. This is a huge issue as people generally come to a school not for a style... they are beginners and do not know what styles are, how many or the differences. They come to fulfill a desire and they want to do that under the guidance of someone dedicated to their needs and wants, not their own aggrandizement. In short they do not seek the ego of the instructor (although a few can become blinded by it).
Now when a student leaves they will rarely tell the instructor of the reasons or they will create another story that eases the confrontational aspect.. so they will say they are moving, have different hours at work, money is tight because the kid needs braces, etc. But 90% of students that leave did not get what they originally wanted, or they were forced into something that gave them pain, fear, work and followed the instructors goals not their personal goals. (this is not exclusive to Kyusho)
So all of the above and more are reasons why you should never put Kyusho in your Martial Arts Curriculum, especially as a full time professional.
However there is a perfect way to combine the efficiency and help your students without the loss of membership to maintain the school adequately. It will serve the instructors needs as well as the members needs as it does not jeopardize the school curriculum and serving the member fully.
We offer this as advice from over 30 years of experience... if you want information on how to integrate Kyusho in your skill set and not hurt your membership... click here.
