On the Richter Scale...
Many people see video of Kyusho KO and they see varying levels of dysfunction and often wonder why the varying affects. To someone that has not practiced Kyusho this can lead to a skewed outlook on the practice (it is not only a KO method), or many questions on the affects.
So lets take another look at the varying degrees:
Level 1 KO, in boxing called a technical knockout where the individual is standing, but unable to control their full physical actions or coherent thought. A fight will be stopped as the fighter has lost the ability to control his body.
Level 2 KO is where they also loose muscular control and drop to the floor. They will still be able to control the fall a bit and perform break-fall, maintain a bit of cohesive thought and see, communicate and hear. However they will have lost significant body control and strength, they may not be able to sit up or stand.
Level 3 KO can occur on the ground after a level 2, where the control and consciousness slips away and into a level 3 full unconscious state. Or they are unconscious before they fall, sometimes the fall waking them back up. This is a sudden traumatic loss of consciousness caused by a physical blow, that may trigger a carotid sinus reflex and syncope manifesting a dramatic KO. Some body blows, particularly the "Liver Shot", can cause progressive, debilitating pain escalating to a loss of consciousness or KO.
Level 4 KO is never publicly demonstrated, or instructed (except in exclusive individual instruction)... and has only been publicly performed in part, once that I know of... but we will save this for another conversation.
Working in Kyusho for protective purposes, the goal is a level 1 stun (public situation such as in crowds at events or gatherings), or for more pressing situations a level 2 such as a street attack. This is so that a falling assailant is not severely injured more from the fall than the response (and something that can carry legal implications). The level 3 is not hard to accomplish as it only takes more power transference into a target as would be mandated in a home invasion, weapon or multiple person attack.
The YouTube conundrum:
Many are introduced to Kyusho through a video clip on YouTube, however this is not Kyusho... this is only some examples of these various (3) levels of KO. This is because more people are attracted to a KO than the infinite other uses of this incredible method.
But now at least you understand the varying levels within these film clips...we urge you to experience Kyusho first hand (no, not just come and get KO'ed), study all the possibilities it hold for you!
