Frequently Asked Questions:
IKC at Sea Frequently Asked Questions

What does the cruise price cover?
The price of the cruise covers your room, meals, and all entertainment onboard the ship.

Can I get travel insurance?
Yes you can. There is a small fee for this and is explained in detail in the registration form. This will increase you total fee slightly and it will be noted in your payment statement.

Will I get a statement?
Once you have registered and completed your registration form, you will be provided a detailed statement outlining what you have reserved, and remaining fees.

Are there “other” food options?
Your payment covers meals at the almost all of the onboard eateries. There are “other” dining options available if you so choose. These are fine dining establishments and are not covered by your cruise fee. There will also be at least one desert establishment that is above and beyond the cruise offerings.

Will I get sea sick?
Well…I can’t say If you are very susceptible to motion sickness, then you should visit with your physician before you depart. There are many medications that help reduce motion sickness. These ships are simply huge and a vast majority of people do not even realize they are moving.

Are their any other expenses onboard?
Adult beverages are not covered in your cruise fee. Additionally, you have the option of tipping your staff. This is done at the end of the cruise via envelope left in your state room. Tipping is not required, but as with all services, it is appreciated.

How do I get from the airport to the ship?
You can take a cab obviously if you wish. The cruise line does offer a paid shuttle to get you to and from the airport. This is for people arriving the day of the cruise and departing at the end of the cruise. It runs approx. $31 roundtrip from Miami. If you have an interest in using this service, please contact me.

Can I get a larger room? Or even a suite?
I can help you reserve a larger room or a suite if you wish. These rooms do not fall into our group category however and pricing would be higher than our normal block of rooms.

Can we get rooms close together?
I will do my very best to arrange cabin locations to fit your needs. If you do wish to be booked near another person, please provide your complete $200 deposit and registration forms as soon as possible.

Do they provide vegetarian meals?
Yes they do. Please indicate this on your registration form.

Can I bring my wife / husband and family?
By all means! This is a perfect opportunity to have the best of both worlds. A fantastic training event and family vacation rolled into one! While you train, your family relaxes and enjoys the ship. After training, you can enjoy all the fun and relaxation the cruise offers. We have discounted pricing for family members. Contact me with questions.

Do I need a Passport?
As the new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative goes into effect, all travelers will be required to have a passport. This includes children. The big passport rush has gone away, but you should still avoid any delay.

When should I fly in?
If you fly into Miami and plan on using the Royal Caribbean shuttle to the ship you must arrive no later than 1:30 p.m. on sailing day, and return flights should be scheduled no earlier than 11:00 a.m. on debarkation day. You also have the option of flying into Fort Lauderdale. Passengers using the Fort Lauderdale Airport must arrive no later than 12:30 p.m. on sailing day, and return flights should be scheduled no earlier than 12:00 p.m. on debarkation day.

If you plan on arranging your own transportation, then plan on being at the ship at least 2 hours prior to departure.
You will be able to check in online several days prior to the actual trip which will greatly expedite your boarding.

What are “Excursions”?
Once we reach the ports of call, the cruise line will offer you specific tours and events to take part in on shore. These generally are not covered by your cruise fee. You are still welcome to disembark and enjoy the port on your own however. On a personal note – on my last cruise my wife and I did not take part in any ship organized excursions and still had a fantastic time!

How do I pay for things on the ship?
Once you board the ship, you will be provide a cruise card. This is a multi-use card. It will be your stateroom key as well as a “Charge Card” for shipboard purchases. This card will be connected to a credit card that you provide the ship upon arrival. This is done to virtually eliminate the need for cash on-board. At the end of the cruise, you will be provided a statement of any and all purchases you have made.

Do I need to dress up?
That is up to you. The main dinner each night is a “more than casual dress” event. You will see people in formal gowns and tuxedos as well as men in ties and women in dinner dresses. If this is not your thing, then there are casual dining options available as well!

Where can I get more details?
You should feel free to email or call me with any questions at all. You are also welcome to visit the Royal Caribbean web site as well for great information!
